Every photoshoot is so special and unique but mom-to-be photoshoots tend to be magical. Maybe because I've never been pregnant. Or maybe because I get so fascinated by the miracle of life and how the love of two people can create another person. I love these photoshoots because, to me, this is love in its most pure state. 2018 started with this beautiful maternity photoshoot at home.
The weather was terrible so we decided to do the photoshoot inside. In a intimate an warm environment, where the couple could be together, far from other people and the judgmental or curious eyes we can easily find in a garden. I was there with them to capture this moment. There are still many couples who think that an indoor photoshoot won't be a good option for them because they think their place is not photogenic, or just because they prefer a studio or and outdoor photoshoot. I think indoors is the ideal place for this photoshoot, where you can be comfortable and at your most natural self. I see these photoshoots as "nesting", the preparation of the home for the baby to come.
I've known Miha a few years now and it was a complete surprise to me when I found out she was pregnant. I got so excited with the idea of photographing her. It wasn't my first maternity photoshoot but this would be much more intimate than usual. Miha wanted to include the baby's father - Bruno - in this maternity photoshoot at home. When the day came, the couple was feeling very shy and nervous. I told them to relax and cuddle the belly or each other. They quickly became comfortable around me and my camera. Their faces showed love and their smiles were so pure, a whole feeling of love filled the room. During the photoshoot they told me about their dreams and plans for the future, told me about the plans they have.
I always fall in love with the people I photograph. If the love is true and pure, so is mine for them. I fell so much in love for Miha, Bruno and their unconditional love for Noa.
