A Love Story That Started in Barcelona
I first met Manu and André in Amsterdam, where they live. I was visiting, and we had the opportunity to do their engagement photoshoot there.
They instantly stole a special place in my heart. Their love story began in Barcelona, where they worked together and quickly fell for each other. Eventually, they decided to move to Amsterdam to start a new chapter of their lives.
After the engagement session, we sat down for drinks, and Manu told me, "What attracted me in your work is that the brides aren’t all the same." She continued, "And believe me, I don’t want to be like every other bride. I want our wedding to be beautiful and super relaxed at the same time." And oh boy, was she right!
Getting Ready for the Big Day
When I arrived at the hotel where Manu was getting ready, I was surprised to find André there too! This couple did not care about superstition. If it weren’t for logistics, they probably would have gotten ready together! Manu was the most relaxed bride ever. "Rita, do you think I can iron my dress on the bed?" she casually asked.
She even did her own makeup. When I asked if it was because she loved doing makeup, she laughed and said, "Oh no, I just thought it might be easier if I did it myself." She almost forgot to use setting spray, but let’s be honest—she was absolutely gorgeous regardless.
Of course, a wedding at Casa Vila Verde needs nothing less than a Pinterest-worthy bridal look. Manu wanted a dress that stood out but could still be worn on other occasions. Her choice? A stunning two-piece set from Shona Joy, paired with an elegant bouquet from Mande uma Flor. This combination was so beautiful, so special and so timeless.
Meanwhile, André was feeling all the nerves. He got ready at the venue with his best men, reminiscing about childhood memories and sharing gifts. Since this was a true Pinterest wedding, his look had to be just as stylish. He chose a sophisticated brown suit from Suits Supply matching the wedding’s colour palette.
The Emotional Ceremony at Casa Vila Verde
By the time the ceremony started, I was already tearing up. The wedding at Casa Vila Verde took place in the most breathtaking setting. Guests were welcomed with cocktails and cucumber water before taking their seats in the lush garden, right next to the vineyard.
Manu and André chose their closest friends to officiate the ceremony, making it deeply personal and incredibly emotional. I can say with certainty that everyone shed a tear at some point—including me. The moving speeches from loved ones, and the raw emotions made this one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever witnessed.
And, of course, there were a few light-hearted moments too, like when Manu and André realized they had left their vows in the room!
A Private Moment Just for Them
After the ceremony, during our couples’ photoshoot, I suggested they bring their vows and read them privately to each other. It was like a second, more intimate ceremony, just the two of them, surrounded by nature. They laughed, cried, kissed, and embraced, and I had the privilege of capturing it all from the front row.
The Ultimate Celebration at Casa Vila Verde
As the night went on, the party carried on until the early hours of the morning. Looking at the pictures, you can see how this wedding at Casa Vila Verde was the perfect mix of Pinterest wedding aesthetics with an outside-the-box approach. Every single detail was carefully thought out, and every guest played a role in making it an unforgettable celebration.
Everyone danced, laughed, and truly enjoyed themselves, making this one of those weddings that will stay in my heart forever.
